Since the vaccine boosters were made widely available and more children were eligible to be vaccinated, CWR has targeted workers seeking the vaccines for themselves or their families to provide information on their workplace rights. In the month of December, CWR joined La Familia Counseling Center’s vaccine clinics to provide information to workers on job protection in pay if they have a reaction to the vaccine.
While workers and families waited to make sure they were safe after receiving the vaccine, CWR staff shared information about health and safety in the workplace. Health and safety issues continue to be a top priority for the Center and we have been monitoring the changing standards issued by CalOSHA, the state agencies charged with setting health and safety standards. These guidelines were changed in June 2021, following the original release of the vaccines.
The pandemic highlighted many inadequacies in regards to ensuring healthy workplaces for all workers, but in particular, low wage workers who are often considered “essential” while not receiving adequate protections from the COVID Virus. If you have questions about your rights to a safe and healthy workplace, call our job protection helpline at 916-905-5857 and we can book you an appointment for our workers’ rights clinic.
