As the Center for Workers’ Rights celebrates its first thanksgiving, I want to express my appreciation for all those who have made our first few months so successful.I especially want to thank the 13 UC Davis Law School student volunteers, who have assisted over 50 low-wage workers at the Workers’ Rights Clinic, and the 11 attorney volunteers who supervised their work and taught them the fundamentals of California employment law. To the Center’s Board of Directors and Advisory Committee members, thank you for your leadership and wisdom in helping create the Center for Workers’ Rights and beginning this journey to change working conditions for low-wage workers in Sacramento. For all those who have shown their support with a donation, thank you for making our organization a reality and for encouraging us to move forward with our vision for the community. To the 217 people who have liked us on facebook, your public support of the Center has helped spread the word about the services we offer. (Haven’t “liked” us yet? Click here.) Please keep showing your support by spreading the word about our work. Most importantly, I want to thank the workers who helped create the Center for Workers’ Rights. There have been countless individuals behind the scenes (filing our paperwork, hosting meetings in their coffee shops, and answering my calls for assistance) and I am deeply grateful to all those workers who helped launch the Center for Workers’ Rights. And a big thanks to you for staying involved in our new organization. Simply reading this email is supporting workers’ rights! Yours very truly, Daniela Urban Executive Director |
